A dialogue in
clay and line

An exceptional contemporary Yixing Zisha teapot bringing together two renowned artists. Geng Hao—widely known as the “Prince of Square Forms” and a fourth-generation inheritor of the Huang family Zisha lineage—created the vessel. Senior Arts and Crafts Artist Chen Honglin added the expressive literati landscape carving for which he is celebrated.

Made from Fenghuangshan Qinghui Zisha, the work unites three demanding achievements: thin-walled construction, exacting geometric form, and direct freehand landscape carving.

32-section geometric architecture

The work’s disciplined structure is expressed through eight-part lid, eight-part body, and eight-part base geometry, complemented by a precise square recessed interior push-in structure.

Extreme thin-walled precision

An eight-sided thin-walled vessel demands exact construction and firing control to minimize warping and shrinkage distortion while preserving a light, balanced body.

“Kongke” freehand landscape

Chen Honglin carved the three-sided landscape directly onto the raw clay without a preliminary draft, translating painterly perspective, line rhythm, and atmosphere onto the vessel’s surface.

Aesthetic balance

Geng Hao’s disciplined geometry gives the work its architectural clarity; Chen Honglin’s fluid landscape brings movement, depth, and literati elegance.
